If you want a higher output pickup that retains that vintage character but with a modern edge, the Five/85 bumps up the mids, tightens the low end and has plenty of bite but can be tamed nicely with the volume knob on your guitar. The Five/85's split really nicely for single coil tones that don't go thin and brittle.
